Guidance for families

How It Works

A clear path from your first conversation to receiving arrangements, with timing confirmed for your situation.

What to expect

1

Your first conversation

Share where your loved one is, where you would like them to go, and any funeral providers already involved. Ask about the available options and next steps.

2

Review arrangements and an estimate

Discuss the proposed service scope, responsibilities, coordination fees, third-party charges, and payment terms. Review the written agreement before authorizing services.

3

Gather documents and confirm requirements

The relevant providers and authorities may need death records, authorizations, permits, and destination-specific documents. Requirements must be confirmed for the route.

4

Coordinate transportation

Transport can be arranged once the necessary preparation, approvals, and receiving arrangements are in place. Ask when bookings and expected timing have been confirmed.

5

Receiving arrangements

Confirm who will receive your loved one or their cremated remains and what happens after arrival. Funeral and final-disposition arrangements should be discussed with the receiving provider.

Planning with uncertainty

Approval times and transport availability vary. A preferred date can be discussed, but departure and arrival dates should not be treated as guaranteed.

Keep the contact details of your current and receiving providers available, and ask who will update you when arrangements change.
